As part of Datum:Tech, Ar. Tony Mak delivered an inspiring talk on the evolving role of architecture in the age of artificial intelligence.

Titled AI Living, the presentation challenged conventional perceptions of smart buildings by introducing a more holistic vision of how AI can transform the built environment. Rather than treating AI as a collection of technologies or devices, the session explored how architecture can integrate an invisible digital ecosystem that enhances the daily lives of residents.

The presentation introduced the concept of Designing Peace of Mind, highlighting how future residential environments should not merely be intelligent, but responsive, adaptable and human-centred. Participants were also introduced to the 4C framework: Comfort, Convenience, Care and Community, which illustrates how AI can support healthier, safer and more connected living experiences.

Throughout the session, Ar. Tony Mak shared architectural strategies ranging from AI-ready planning considerations and flexible residential layouts to the integration of connected building services that work seamlessly in the background. The discussion emphasised that the future of AI Living is not defined by visible technology, but by the quality of life it creates.
